Demystifying virtual numbers

Hi. I’m looking into setting up a “virtual fax” for my startup so we look more established, but I’m a bit lost. Is it just a redirect to my phone number, or is it a completely separate thing? I really don’t want to buy any extra hardware if I can avoid it.

Hello! I used to think you needed a special “box” for this, but it’s all software-based now. I read a great explainer called “What Is a Virtual Fax Number and How Does It Work?” on OpenWeb that helped me out. Basically, it’s a real phone number that lives on a server and converts incoming signals into PDFs for your email. You can manage everything from your laptop or phone. It’s the easiest way to look “corporate” while working from a couch!
